Nahre Sol is a pianist and composer whose music blends elements of “improvisation, traditional Western form and harmony, jazz harmony, and minimalism.” Her online video series, “Practice Notes” provides an educational resource for piano students. I discovered her music during her recent conversation with Rick Beato.
Good Night I Love You Bye opens with a warm, quietly-embracing melody, propelled forward with crystalline, Bach-like contrapuntal lines. A series of exuberant musical adventures follows this opening statement. The final moments fade into dreamy contemplation with a few incredibly beautiful harmonic surprises.
Nahre Sol is one of my favorite contemporary artists, and I eagerly look forward to her online postings. She’s enormously talented, accomplished and versatile, and I am an enthusiastic fan! As a pianist, I admire and envy her improvisational skill and originality!

From the moment I heard her as a Freshman at Idyllwild Arts Academy, I have been a fan. Good swimmer, too.
Make sure you check out this piece in its original version for celeste and piano!! It’s on Nahre’s YouTube!!
